Daniel J. Walsh

Daniel J Walsh, 89, of Waterbury passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 19, 2016, at Cheshire Regional Rehab Center after a brief illness. He is survived by Pamela Walsh, his wife of 25 years.

Dan was born on August 20, 1927, in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Mildred (Jannetty) Walsh and Patrick Walsh.

Dan proudly served his country with the United States Navy during WWII, The Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired from the Navy in 1967 as a Chief Petty Officer, after 23 years.

Dan loved sports and was a lifelong Yankees diehard and an avid fan of UConn basketball. More than anything else, “Dan the Man” loved spending time with his friends and family.

Besides his wife he is survived by his son, James Walsh, of Waterbury and his step-children Robert Santopietro and his wife Kelley, Michelle Coley and her husband Doug and Marcie Hamel and her husband Rich all of Wolcott. He also leaves behind nine loving grandchildren, three nephews and many close friends that he considered family.

Dan was predeceased by his brother Patrick Walsh of Waterbury and his best pal Chipman, the cat.

Dan’s family would like to thank the staff of Cheshire Regional Rehab Center for their outstanding care and kindness during this difficult period. The compassion showed to our family by staff from every department of the facility is something that we will always be grateful for.

Calling hours will be held, Tuesday October 25, 2016, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Colasanto Funeral Home, 932 Bank St, Waterbury. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
