Marie D. (Jacaruso) Gabriele, 85, of Southbury, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at St. Mary’s hospital, after a brief illness.  She was the loving wife of the late, Michael V. Gabriele, Sr.

She was born in Waterbury, on October 19, 1932, daughter of the late, Lena (Dizinno) Devino, and step father, Timothy Devino and father, Pasquale Jacaruso.

Marie graduated from Leavenworth High School, and then went onto graduate from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing, in 1953.  She worked as a Registered Nurse for 54 years, splitting her time between, St. Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury Hospital, and the Waterbury VNA, as a Private Duty Nurse.  Marie enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her three children; her son, Michael Gabriele Jr. and his wife Victoria, of Simsbury, her two daughters, Susan Collins, of Waterbury, and Lisa Gabriele, of Southbury, with whom she made her home, Her five grandchildren; Joseph, Alana, and her husband Lenny, Emily, Tony, and Nat, Her two great-grandchildren, Sophia, and Santino, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Marie was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia McCarthy, and two son-in laws, Joseph McCarthy, and Kevin Collins, and also her brother, Francis Jacaruso.

A funeral will be held at 9:30 am, on Monday, April 9, 2018, from Colasanto Funeral Home, 932 Bank St., Waterbury, to Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins St., Waterbury, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, on Monday, April 9, 2018.
