Rose M. Sarnataro, 89, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital (VITAS) on Friday, August 4, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of her beloved husband, Vincenzo Sarnataro.
She was born in Waterbury, on October 12, 1927, the loving daughter of the late, Angelo and Rose (Amodio) Michielli.
Rose was a proud, lifelong resident of the Town Plot neighborhood in Waterbury. She graduated from Wilby High School, and worked at Uniroyal for over thirty years.
She loved to sing along to her favorite Italian music, and teaching her grandchildren how to cook the favorite family recipies.
Rose is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Mona Sarnataro, and also her daughter and son-in-law, Raffaela and Victor Melendez. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Victor Melendez, Stephanie Sarnataro, Christina Melendez, Heather LaVallee, and Lauren Sarnataro, and her great-grandchildren, Luca Melendez, and Leo LaVallee.
Rose was predeceased by her five older brothers: Victor, Michael, Patrick, Peter, and Ralph Michielli.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at 9:00 am, from Colasanto Funeral Home, 932 Bank St., Waterbury, to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 785 Highland Ave, Waterbury, CT. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at the funeral home.
