David Cole Obituary

David K. Cole, 61, of Woodbury, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023, at St. Mary’s Vitas, in Waterbury, CT.

Dave was born in Waterbury, CT., on January 17, 1962, the loving son of George A. and Janet (Bryant) Cole, Jr.

He grew up in, and lived most of his life in, Hotchkissville/Woodbury, CT. He graduated from Nonnewaug High School, and went on to earn a degree at Denver Automotive and Diesel College.

Dave had many skills and talents, and was self-employed. Over the years he had many small businesses that included lawn maintenance and carpentry services, along with also working at various local establishments, including his family's butcher shop in Woodbury. Dave was also an extremely artistic and talented craftsman, hand-making Native American drums, various instruments, and jewelry, which he, alongside his father, sold at powwows.

He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing in all forms - whether it be fly, angling, ice, or ocean fishing, and whether off a boat, bank, bridge, beach, on a frozen lake, or knee-deep in a raging river, Dave could often be found doing what he loved most.

Dave was a kind and gentle soul with an incredible sense of humor. He had an unforgettable laugh that was extremely contagious. He had a great love for his family, and was a tried and true friend, who would give you the shirt off his back. He was loved by everyone, and will be greatly missed.

Dave is survived by his mother, Janet. B. Cole, of Woodbury,  his stepdaughter, Sarah Toomey, of Woodbury, his brother, Michael (Linda) Cole, of Leicester, MA, his brother Mark (Heidi) Cole, of Bethlehem, his brother, Brian (Cori) Cole, of Woodbury, and his nephews and nieces: Joshua and Ethan Cole, of Spencer MA, Tyler Cole, of New Milford, Ashley Cole, of Keene, NH, and Justin Cole, of Southbury.

He was predeceased by his wife, Alyssa (McCray) Cole, his father, George A. Cole, Jr., his grandparents, George A. and Minnie Cole, Sr., and his grandparents Karl and Dora Bryant.
