Josephine Dolores Arcovio, 96, of Waterbury, passed away on May 10, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the wife of the late Raffaele (Rocky) Arcovio.
She was born in Waterbury on October 12, 1926, the daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Gelsomina) Failla.
Josephine started every day with toast topped with cinnamon and sugar. She loved her game show network, crossword puzzles, grape water, Halo oranges, and watching her daily morning mass. You knew not to call her between 10 and 10:30 AM. She had two freezers stocked at all times and a closet full of paper goods from Costco, so she would never run out. She checked her "Picture Share" daily to see if there were any new pictures.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters: Donna (Joseph) DeMeis, Roxann (Manny) Francisco, and Robin (Tino) Pappadia, her grandchildren: "attached at the hip," grandson, Michael Murphy, Jeni (Jon) Shean, Jason (Thu) and Joey DeMeis, Sarah (Eric) Acosta, and Sean (Ashley) Francisco, her great-grandchildren: Joseph Murphy (Sarah Wrisley), Kamri (Kyle) Banisaied, JT, Kristina, and Breanna Shean, Noah and Zachary Francisco, Nicolas and Chloe DeMeis, and Mila and Levi Francisco. She also leaves behind her special "Thursday card playing niece," Sherry, and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as her friend of many years, Eleonora Stepputis.
Josephine was predeceased by her Grandsons, Eric Murphy and Vincent DeMeis.
There will be a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, May 15, 2023, at The Basilica of Immaculate Conception, 74 W. Main St., Waterbury. Family and Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 2324 E. Main St., Waterbury.
