Natalina Crochet Obituary

Mrs. Natalie Crochet

She will be remembered for her sweet tooth, incredible sense of humor, and her big heart.

Natalie (Terni) Crochet, of Waterbury, CT sadly passed away on February 23, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital, at 85-years-old - proving only the good die young, because everyone who knew her was convinced she’d live forever.

Natalie was born in Waterbury, on August 14, 1936, to Settimo and Rosi (Molin) Terni. She remained in Waterbury, where she met and fell in love with her husband, Albert Crochet, then together building a beautiful life and family through the past 64 years.

Throughout her life, Natalie worked at Grant’s Department Store, Worth’s Department Store, and Worth’s Bargain Bee. When she wasn’t busy working, Natalie enjoyed bowling at St. Joseph’s, and attending bingo. She also spent many years volunteering as a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church—including their Ladies Guild, Youth Group, bingo, and religious education. Some of Natalie’s other hobbies included hosting Sunday dinner, watching UConn women’s basketball, and taking care of neighborhood cats. What Natalie loved most, though, was family. She took great pride in being a mother, grandmother, and wife.

Natalie leaves behind her husband Albert Crochet, and their five children:  Deborah Crochet-Colangelo, Susan Crochet-Smith, Patricia and Robert Hinrichs, Peter and Stacy Crochet, and Lisa Crochet-Doucette, and her sons-in-law, Richard LeCuyer, and Darren “Mike” Smith. She also leaves behind her grandchildren - all who saw her as a second mother:  Ricky LeCuyer and Teresa Markowich, Albert and Sarah LeCuyer, Nick and Alyssa LeCuyer, Matthew and Anna LeCuyer, Patrick Smith, Mandi Hinrichs, Derek Hinrichs, Jon Hinrichs, Katherine and Alex Maldonado, Peter Crochet, Jr., Anna Doucette, Alana Doucette, and Glenn Doucette, Jr.

With such a large family, one would think Natalie’s house was busy enough. However, she was thrilled as her family continued to grow, also leaving behind 10 great-grandchildren: Hailie and Aria Aponte, Chloe and Piper Plevka, Justin Wilson, Jaxxon and Sawyer LeCuyer, Jayden Meek, Ezra LeCuyer, and Jacob Maldonado. Natalie also leaves behind her sisters, Betty and Alfredo DiDomizio, and Mary Kudrikoff, several nieces and nephews, her best friend, Margaret “Marge” Hanley-Vallillo, and her friend, Father Norman Brockett, as well as the many people she knew and called “friend.”

In addition to her late parents, Natalie was predeceased by her in-laws, Nicholas and Anna (Ambrozaitis) Crochet, her brothers, Nick Terni, and Alphonso Terni, and her sons-in-law, Glenn Doucette, Sr., and Mike Colangelo.

Natalie will be remembered for her sweet tooth, incredible sense of humor, and her big heart. Saying she will be missed does not fully capture the magnitude of her presence, or how deeply and endlessly she will always be loved.

Services for Natalie will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 785 Highland Ave, Waterbury, on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery, in Waterbury. Family and Friends are asked to meet directly at Church.
