Alan T. StephanofskyNovember 12, 1960 ~ August 18, 2018 (age 57)
Alan T. Stephanofsky
Loving, Husband, Father, Grandfather.
Alan T. Stephanofsky, 57, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Waterbury Hospital, on Saturday, August 18, 2018. He was the husband to Laura (Fama) Stephanofsky, with whom he spent the past 30 years of his life.
Al was born in Derby, on November 12, 1960, son of the late David and Barbara (Beckwith) Stephanofsky.
Al spent his childhood living in "the valley", and had the fondest memories with his family and childhood friends. Upon moving to the Brooklyn Section of Waterbury as an adult, Al found work at Thin Sheet Metals. It was there where he met friends, who to this day are like his extended family. Never was there a time when someone didn't step up and lend a hand when needed, and Al tried to do the same. That being said, Al's wife and family would like to thank those friends, you all know who you are, from the bottom of our hearts, for all your help and support during this tragic time.
Al loved to be outdoors in the warm weather, where he spent his time with his beloved dogs, Jessie and Emmitt, who miss him very much. Rarely did he leave the house without taking them with him for a ride! He enjoyed going fishing with the boys, and watching the Yankees and the Cowboys play (as long as they were winning!). He also enjoyed watching the UConn Women's Basketball games with his wife Laura.
Al is survived by his step-son David Townsend, whom Al raised since the age of four. He also leaves behind the little girl who stole his heart, his beloved granddaughter Marlee Townsend. Besides his wife and son, Al leaves behind his three brothers, David, Fred, and Michael, his "favorite" sister Susan Carey, and many nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Colasanto Funeral Home, 932 Bank St., Waterbury. Burial will be private, and at the convenience of the family.
