Barbara C. (Zaica) Zupka

Barbara C. Zupka, 73, of Waterbury, CT, formerly of Brooklyn, CT, passed away on September 3, 2017, at St Mary’s Hospital, in Waterbury, CT, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in New York, NY, on September 19, 1943, the daughter of the late Charles and Blanche (Vaitkus) Zaica.

Barbara was a school teacher in Killingly, CT, and she was the Director of Education for 12 years, at Our Lady of Fatima School, in Wilton, CT.

Barbara was a loving Mother and homemaker.  She loved to cook and bake for the family. She also loved entertaining and boating while at the family’s lake house on Bantam Lake.

She is survived by her two sons, Eric and Michael Zupka, and her two grandchildren, Jokubas and Sofija Zupka. She is also survived by her cousins, Joseph Kohler, and Kim Kohler.

She is predeceased by her sister, Joan Kohler.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017, at 8:30 am, at Colasanto Funeral Home, 932 Bank St, Waterbury, to St. Joseph Church, 46 Congress Ave, Waterbury, CT, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am.  Burial will follow at the Lithuanian Cemetery, 102 Plank Rd.  Family and Friends may call on Thursday, September 7, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at the funeral home.
