Bruno F. Kolakauskas

Bruno F. Kolakauskas, 68, of Thomaston, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, January 19, 2020. He was a loving father to his two children.

Bruno was born on October 16, 1951, in Waterbury, CT, the son of Frank and Christine Kolakauskas. He was a student at St. Joseph’s Grammar School, John F. Kennedy High School, Waterbury State Technical College, and Quinnipiac University. He and Tina Duncan, predeceased, raised their two children, Carissa and Kurt, in Middlebury, CT.

Bruno was a son of Brooklyn’s Lithuanian Community, and he cherished those friendships formed at St. Joe’s - which continued throughout his life. He had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed sharing his hobby of trout fishing with others. Characterized by his interests as a gardener, bird watcher, and lover of animals, Bruno was a gentle soul to his neighbors, coworkers, and community alike. He was proud of his work at the Western CT Area Agency on Aging, as it allowed him to dedicate his time to those in greatest need. He will be remembered for his kind and compassionate spirit.

Bruno was preceded in death by his father, Frank (Pranas), his mother, Christine (Traute Buntins), and his younger brother, Norbert Linas. He is survived by his two children, Carissa and Kurt, his daughter-in-law, Lindsay, his siblings, Kristina Asta, Alphonse, and Rita, and many loving nieces and nephews.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 46 Congress Avenue, Waterbury, at 10:30 am. A Burial Service will follow at the Lithuanian Cemetery, 102 Plank Road, Waterbury. Family and Friends may call from 8:00 am, to 10:00 am, on January 25, 2020, at Colasanto Funeral Home, 932 Bank St., Waterbury, CT.
