Eva (Perugini) Polakowski, 97, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 28, 2018, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was the loving wife of the late Frank Polakowski.
Eva was born on December 17, 1921, the daughter of Joseph and Rose Evelyn (Amore) Perugini.
She worked at Uniroyal until her retirement. Besides going to church, she loved cooking and baking for her family and friends. Eva had a talent for baking cakes, whether it was for a birthday or a wedding. Eva was well-loved, and her niece, Mary Levay, would faithfully go over to Eva's house to cut, color, and fix her famous hairdo.
She leaves behind a daughter, Joanne DeSantis, of Palmdale, CA, her son, Steve Polakowski, and his wife, Marlynne, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Eva was the last of several children born to the Perugini family.
The family would like to sincerely thank Regal Care of Waterbury for the exceptional caregiving they provided to Eve during her illness.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, prayer service 10:30AM, at Colasanto Funeral Home, 932 Bank St., Waterbury. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
