Frank Thomas McCuskerApril 4, 1930 ~ August 15, 2019 (age 89)
Francis Thomas McCusker, 89, of Waterbury, passed away on August 15, 2019, after a brief illness.
Frank was born in New York City, on April 4, 1930, the son of the late Bridget (Colligan) and James McCusker.
Although born in Manhattan, Frank grew up in the countryside of Ireland. He returned to the States, and had a successful military and professional career - later going on to become the Commander of the Brooklyn Post, 7790 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.
Marrying at a young age, Frank remained dedicated to his family until his last breath - raising six children, and remaining close to his sister, his only sibling.
His passions and interests were endless. Frank grew perfect vegetables in gardens that flourished. He roamed fields and hunted duck, grouse, and pheasant. He also fished the rivers, lakes, and oceans. He was an avid golfer, and painted landscapes of Connecticut. For Frank, his idea of a good life, was one fully lived.
Frank is survived by his wife, Molly, son, James (Debbie), of Waterbury, son, Frank Jr. (Laura), of Waterbury, son Stephen (Karla), of Prospect, daughter, Rose Medvec (Keith), of Southbury, son, John, of New York (Barry), and his sister, Marie, of Waterbury. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Raymond, Benjamin, Stephen Jr., Nicholas, Brandon, Courtney, Aspen, and one great- granddaughter, Emma.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30am, on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at Calvary Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Colasanto Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements.
