Magdalena M.(Sawicki) Zelvis, 73, of Waterbury, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at her home while surrounded by her loving family. She was married for 47 years to Albinas Zelvis.
She was born in Punsk, Poland on April 25, 1944, the daughter of the late, Joseph and Janina (Vinikaitis) Sawicki.
Maggie was a member of St. Joseph Church in Waterbury. She loved traveling, taking long walks, spending time with her family and especially taking care of her grandchildren, whom she cherished.
Maggie is survived by her beloved husband Albinas, her daughter, Rima and her husband Ryan McGeehan of Prospect, a son, Linas and his wife Heather Zelvis of Waterbury, her grandchildren, Lia and Darius Zelvis, River and Ryder McGeehan, her brothers, Leon and Peter Sawicki and sister Teresa Kucharczyk. Maggie was predeceased by two sisters and a brother.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 4-7pm at The Colasanto Funeral Home, 932 Bank St. Waterbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Church, on Thursday at 11am. Burial will follow in the Lithuanian Cemetery, Plank Rd. Waterbury. Memorial donations can be made, in her name to, The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT 06708.
