MIDDLEBURY – Marie Forino, 87, of Middlebury passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018.she was the Beloved wife of the late Alfred Forino.

Marie was born in Waterbury, on September 5, 1930, daughter of the late Louis and Anna (Russo) Massimo. 

She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy, Waterbury Catholic High and St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing where she worked for many years.

She was active in St. Mary’s Auxiliary for over 30 years and worked as a volunteer at St. Mary’s gift shop.  She was a member of the Alumni Club for Nurses.

When in high school she helped at the Girls’ Club in Waterbury with her Aunt, Lucy Russo.  She was on the Mothers’ Club at Holy Cross for four years.

She is survived by four children and seven grandchildren.  John Forino and wife, Patty, Ann Marie Miller and husband, Brian all of Sudbury, MA, Michael Forino and wife, Rita of Old Lyme and Stephen Forino and wife, Anna of Middlebury.

Her grandchildren are Jason and Sara Forino, Alex and Brianna Miller, Michael Forino and wife, Brittany and Stephen and Justin Forino.

She loved to spend time with her grandchildren at their summer beach home and loved to bake cookies with them.

Marie was predeceased by her sister Gloria Sticco of Florida.

A Funeral Service will be held at 8am on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, from Colasanto Funeral Home, 932 Bank St. Waterbury, to St. John of the Cross Church, 1263 West St., Middlebury, for a Mass of Christian Burial, at 10am. Entombment to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 8am to 9:30am, on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.
