Paul Hennessey Obituary

He Led a Full Life

Paul Martin Hennessey, 81, of Woodbury, passed away at his home on Sunday night, surrounded by his family. He was the Loving Husband of Carol Hennessey for 58 years.

He was born in Middletown, CT, on October 18, 1938, the son of Michael J. and Edna (Marthins) Hennessey.

Paul grew up in Stratford.  Even as a young boy, he was industrious, picking potatoes on the farm, working as a shoeshine boy for PAL, and helping to clear fields for Gloria's Garden Center.. After getting married, Paul settled his family in the Lordship neighborhood of Stratford, and lived there for many years, before eventually moving the family to Woodbury.

He was a Veteran, having served in the United States Armed Forces. He went on to work at Avco Lycoming in Stratford as an experimental machinist for 10 years, before working for an additional 15 years as a Route Sales Representative for Frito Lay Co. He then created and ran his own business, P.C. Fasteners, for several years, before returning to work as a CNC Operator at Woodbury Devices for several additional years.

His "spare" time was full as well. He was a Jack of All Trades, who could fix just about anything - from electrical, to carpentry - and he truly enjoyed himself while doing so. He had many hobbies he enjoyed, such as fly fishing, bird watching - especially hummingbirds, gardening/propagating, and working on his 1964 Gravely. Also, he was proud to be a member of King Solomon's Lodge No. 7, AF & AM, in Woodbury for several years.

Paul's favorite, though, was playing and sharing his music with family and friends. He played the guitar, violin, banjo, and mandolin. He really enjoyed having an audience, and often gathered with his friends to play at The Barn, in Woodbury.

He will be Greatly Missed by All Who Knew Him.

Besides his wife, he leaves behind his son, Mark (Dale) Hennessey, his daughter, Jane (Hennessey) Hutter, his four grandchildren; Jason (Karin) Rabatin, Michael Hutter, Brianna (Keith) Hennessey, and Jonathan Hutter, his four great-grandchildren; Ryen and Atlas Godejohn, and Finnley and Elliot Rabatin, his brother, Mike (Jan) Hennessey, his sister, Lorraine Miskella, his brother-in-law, George (Sally) Seibel, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Woodbury United Methodist Church, 4 Church St., on Saturday, January 18, at 10:00 am.
