Vincent A. Panelli
A Good Family Man
Vincent (Jim) A. Panelli, 91, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Waterbury Hospital, on November 1, 2018, after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of the late Irene (Rotondo) Panelli.
Jim was born in Waterbury, on April 4, 1927, son of the late Leonardo and Maria (Ferrechia) Panelli.
He was a lifelong resident of Waterbury, and alongside his wife Irene, he raised their four children, Mary Ann Panelli, Diane DiCarlo, James Panelli, and
David Panelli. He was the beloved "Poppy" to his granddaughter, Rachel DiCarlo.
Jim served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was self-employed for many years, and worked for numerous local appliance and furniture stores.
He was a sweet man, with a kind heart and a great sense of humor, who lived for his family. He was an avid fan of the NY Giants and the Yankees. He wore his Yankees cap wherever he went! Jim was a “gentle giant”, who enjoyed drawing cartoon caricatures, watching classic movies, and listening to his old albums.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Anthony and Joseph Panelli.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staffs of Waterbury Hospital, Cheshire House Rehabilitation Center, Autumn Lake Healthcare, and Seasons Hospice for the care given to their father over the past four months.
