Anthony E. Dell’Anno, 74, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully, with the love of his life, his wife of 52 years, Catherine, by his side. Tony was born in Naples, Italy, on November 28, 1947. He was the son of the late Paulino and Concetta Dell’Anno.
Tony was a loving man, who touched the lives of everyone who knew him. “Poppy” will be dearly missed. He will forever be remembered as The Greatest Man We Ever Knew. “I don’t WANNA complain but….,” (if you know, you know).
Tony attended Waterbury State Technical College, earning his degree in Chemistry. He briefly worked at Chase Brass and Copper, before choosing a career path of passion, and earning his CDL. He worked for APA transport for 20 years, and retired from Roadway. Tony was a dedicated teamster, and truly enjoyed driving the big rigs.
Tony is survived by his wife Catherine, his children Michele, Christine and her husband, Tim, and “the favorite,” his son, Anthony and his wife Shennen. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, David, Bryanna, Dean JR, Sandra, Sean, Daniel, Josh, Anthony, Caleb (who considered Poppy his 2nd father and best friend), and Olivia, also, his two great-grandchildren, Lena Marie and Desmond, as well as his three sisters, Nina, Antoinette, and Mary, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his three brothers, Giovanni, Archangelo, and Nicholas.
