Carmella (DiStasio) Bavone

Carmella  Bavone, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at home, on March 13, 2020, at the age of 100.  She was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas J. Bavone.

Carmella, daughter of the late Anthony DiStasio and Josephine (Porzio) DiStasio, was born in Waterbury, CT, on May 19, 1919.

Carmella found joy in life by taking care of her family. She loved to cook, and was not satisfied until every visiting family member or friend was fed. She was a resilient woman, with a huge heart and love of family.

She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Maher, of Waterbury,  her grandchildren: Stephen Maher Jr. and his wife, Stacey Brown, of Boston, MA, Christopher Maher and his wife, Rachel, of Naugatuck, CT,  David Maher and his wife, Tracey, of Cheshire, CT, and her great-grandchildren:  Spencer, Kellen, Shepard, Beckett, and Alden, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to acknowledge Landy Dawu for her unwavering compassion, and for the excellent care that she provided for Carmella over the last four months.

Besides her parents and husband, Carmella is predeceased by her daughter, Josephine Bavone, her brothers:  John, Salvatore, Frank, Vincent, and Alfred DiStasio, her sisters, Lucy Pilla, and Anne DiStasio, and her son-in-law, Stephen Maher Sr.
