Deata Augelli Obituary

Deata Augelli, “Nana,” wife of the late Nicholas C. Augelli, passed away on Mother’s Day surrounded by her loving family.

She was 98 years young.

Deata was born November 27, 1919 in Waterbury, Connecticut to the late Rocco and Rosemarie (Pace) Lucia.

She is survived by two daughters, Judy Padula and her husband Bruce, of Waterbury, with whom she made her home and Donna Monoson and her husband Dr. Peter Monoson of Vero Beach, FL and Harwinton, CT.

Deata also leaves behind four grandchildren: Lisa Bailey and her husband Martin of Newtown, CT, Billie Rama and her partner Debra Cote of Asbury Park, New Jersey, Bruce Padula and his wife Rebecca of Fairhaven, New Jersey and Jaime Byrne and her husband P.J. of Los Angeles, CA. Her seven great-grandchildren Joshua, Bryan and Meghan Bailey, Benjamin and Stella Padula and Madison and Libby Byrne. As well as several nieces and nephews and numerous friends.  She was predeceased by her three brothers Dominic, Daniel, and William (Pro) Lucia and three sisters, Beatrice Divino, Carmella Coviello and Kay Oppitto.

Deata worked at the Eyelet Specialty in Wallingford for 15 years before retiring in 1974. But what she loved doing most was feeding everyone and anyone that walked through her door.  “Nana” also loved spending time with her friends and family and reminiscing about the good old days.

She lived a long happy life and was ready to be reunited with the love of her life, her husband Nick.

The family of Deata Augelli would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Joseph Morley and Hartford Healthcare for their outstanding care.
