Delia Medina Obituary

Delia Medina, 81, of Waterbury, peacefully passed away from earth to God's Heaven, on Wednesday, September 30, 2020,   surrounded by her entire family, after a long illness.

Delia was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on December 16, 1938. She was the daughter of Carmen Quinonnes-Maldonado.

Delia had many loves in her life. Her first and forever love, was her husband, Hector, who entered Heaven on August 7, 2015, and whom she missed desperately. In fact, and ironically, on September 29, 2020, she sang, "My divine love, come get me." Needless to say, he did. Second, were her 9 children, 21 grandchildren and 27 great grand-children - they were her entire world. The sun rose and set upon them all, until her very last breath.

Delia enjoyed crocheting, and never missed her favorite novela’s. She was also an avid doll collector, with an extensive collection, which she took much pleasure and joy in. She was an excellent cook, and enjoyed making meals for family and friends - in fact her pernil with rice and beans, was second to none.

Delia spent her life babysitting her precious grandchildren. She dedicated her life to caring, loving, and nurturing them. She never missed one minute of their lives, and for that, they will be forever grateful.

She is survived by 2 sons, Hector and David Medina, and 7 daughters, Madeline Medina, Nancy Medina, Anita Fernandez, Marizol Gore, Mimi Rosario, Jeanette Colon, and Brenda Medina. She also leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and several nieces and nephews.

A very Heartfelt and Special Thanks to Delia "Mimi" Rosario, Delia's daughter, for opening her home and her heart to her mom, and for her dedication and exemplary care of Mami over the past 4 years. Nothing you have done has gone unrecognized or unappreciated.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Colasanto Funeral Home, 932 Bank St., Waterbury, CT. Family and friends may call between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
