Ernest N. Stanco, 90, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 26, 2019, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Ann M. Stanco.
He was born in Waterbury on August 26, 1928, the son of Anthony J. Stanco and Nancy (Melillo) Stanco.
Ernest was a military veteran, having served in the United States Army during WWII. He worked as a calibration technician at the Bristol Company in Waterbury. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Ernest loved to do gardening and yard work. He enjoyed watching and rooting for the UCONN Huskies Women's basketball team and the Yankees. He liked going on trips to Foxwoods, and he made Amazing zucchini fritters. He will be Greatly Missed.
He is survived by his three children; daughters, Dorianne M. Stanco and Maria J. Stanco, both of Waterbury, and son, David E. Stanco and his wife, Vicki K. Stanco, of Broad Brook, CT, his grandchildren; Alexandra M. Stanco and David M. Stanco, of Broad Brook, and Christina M. Stanco, of Wilbraham, MA, and his great-granddaughter, Linda Stanco, of Wilbraham, MA. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, at Colasanto Funeral Home, 932 Bank St., Waterbury, followed by a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 785 Highland Ave., Waterbury. Burial with full military honors to immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery, 2324 E. Main Street, Waterbury.
