Grace M. (Granato) Mella, 100, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024, at Waterbury Hospital. She was the loving wife of late Louis J. Mella.
She was born in Waterbury, on November 23, 1923, the daughter of Raphael and Carmella (Mastrodonato) Granato.
Grace retired from Winchester Electronics. She was a past member of Saint Anne Society, Mt. Carmel Forever Young, and Mt. Carmel Knitting Ministry. She was an excellent knitter, and she knitted comfort shawls for cancer patients. Grace was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and the UCONN Women’s Basketball team. She loved the Game Show Network, doing Jumble in the newspaper, and traveling - having gone on many cruises. Grace loved going to the Seven Angels and Palace Theaters in Waterbury, and the Mohegan Sun Casino. She also loved going to lunch with Frank, Joanne, Shirley, and Grace.
Grace is survived by her daughter, Sharon, her son, David, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Louis and Louise DeMeo, her nephew, Christopher DeMeo, and her nieces, Paige and Laura DeMeo.
In addition to her parents and husband, Louis, Grace was predeceased by her brothers, Francis and Pat Granato, and many first cousins.
The family would like to thank the Hospice Nurses on the fifth floor of Waterbury Hospital for their excellent care.

Calling hours will be held at Colasanto Funeral home on Tuesday, July 23, at Colasanto Funeral Home, 932 Bank St., from 8 – 10:00 am, followed by A Mass of Christian Burial, at 10:30 am, at Mt. Carmel Church, 785 Highland Ave. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 2324 E. Main St.
