“Jim”

WATERBURY-James P. Cassidy 67, of Waterbury passed away on August 5, 2022, at Yale New Haven Hospital after a long battle with his tremendous heart.

Jim was born on February 10, 1955, in Oakland, CA on the Naval Base to the late Ruth (Etoy) and Walter J. Cassidy. He was raised by his grandparents Blanche and Arnold Cassidy in Waterbury from the age of 5 weeks. He attended St. Anne’s Grammar School and was a graduate of Crosby High School. Jim started working at Waterbury Screw, Nutmeg Screw Machine and ended up at Grodel Manufacturing in which he became General Manager and Owner until 2000. He then became a Forman at Tri-Star Industries in Berlin for 19 years. Jim loved music, played the guitar and was a big Elvis fan. He loved to ride his Harley and would ride it to work and for enjoyment until he was not able to. James spent time with his family enjoyed camping with his grandson Pauly, getting together on weekends for dinner, cooking and he was an animal lover in which he had many over the years. His family fondly remembers him telling jokes, funny stories and him loving life and laughing.

He is survived by his love Diane Giattino, daughter Jessica Giattino Citron and her husband Angel of Maryland, grandson Angel Citron III and his wife Jenny of Oklahoma, great granddaughter Rayna, granddaughter Myranda Citron of Waterbury, daughters Heather Cassidy of Waterbury, Amy Cassidy-Stephens and her husband Robert of Wolcott, grandson Pauly Pinto of Bristol, his sister Ann Watson and her husband Jim Cook of TX, aunts and uncles, Joan and William LoRusso of Waterbury, Wilbur and Rita Cassidy of MA and all of their children, close friends including Sherry Cassidy and Mark Pelosi of Waterbury,  he also leaves many cousins in which he was close to for many years. He is sorely missed by Lulu and Dixie, (his girls).

A special thank you the nurses and Dr.’s at YNHH, Emergency Department and especially the Cardio Thoracic ICU for caring for Jim and his family during his stay with great compassion, love, respect and dignity. The family would like to see Blood Donations be made to help others.

A funeral Mass will be held at the Shrine of St. Anne’s Church on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 11am. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury, CT. Colasanto Funeral Home has been entrusted to care for James and his family
