Kevin Victor Collins, 61, passed away Monday morning, peacefully at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by family.

He leaves behind wife, Susan (Gabriele) Collins and daughter Emily Collins. He was son to the late Anita J'Anthony, step-father John C. J'Anthony, and father Gerry Collins of Waterbury.

Kevin was a graduate of Holy Cross High School in Waterbury and Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts. Kevin then became an English teacher in the Waterbury Public School system, where he worked for the last 40 years. Along with teaching English, he directed countless plays and musicals for the Waterbury Curtin Players and the Kennedy High School Student Theater Program. Kevin was an avid theater goer, and enjoyed vacationing with his family, listening to music, and spending time with friends.

He was predeceased by step-brother, John J'Anthony Jr., step-sister, Karen J'Anthony, Aunt, Joan J'Anthony, Uncle, James J'Anthony, father-in-law, Michael Gabriele Sr., sister-in-law, Patricia McCarthy, and brother-in-law, Joseph McCarthy.

Kevin is also survived by mother-in-law, Marie Gabriele and sister-in-law, Lisa Gabriele of Southbury, brother-in-law, Michael Gabriele Jr. of Simsbury, nephew, Joseph McCarthy Jr. of Watertown, and niece, Alana Solomita of Waterbury. He leaves behind several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Friday, December 2, 2016, at St. Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin St, Waterbury. Burial will follow, in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Calling hours are from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Colasanto Funeral Home, 932 Bank St. Waterbury.
