Marie J. (Pontelandolfo) Florio

Marie J. (Pontelandolfo) Florio, 90, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully, on Friday, December 4, 2020, at her home, with her family. She was the loving wife of Ernest Florio for 64 years.

She was born in Waterbury, on April 17, 1930, the daughter of the late Michael and Marie Grazia (Ciocca) Pontelandolfo.

Marie was a loving mother and homemaker. She was an incredible cook, and enjoyed preparing meals and baking for her family, especially over the holidays and for special occasions. She also worked for Watertown Undergarment, in Waterbury, for many years, where she made good use of her sewing talents. She was an avid parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

Besides her loving husband Ernie, of Waterbury, she is survived by her son, Robert and his wife Luciana, of Wolcott, and her daughter, Deborah Jacobs, of Waterbury. She was blessed to have three grandchildren, Monique Jacobs and her partner, Terrell Upchurch, Carla Roberts and her husband, Matthew, and Christie Florio; great-grandchildren, Shanel, Anthony, Brooke, and James, and a great-great-grandchild, Kamaris, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Peter, Samuel, Joseph, and Nicholas, as well as her sister, Caroline Conte.

A Special Thanks to the aides who helped with the care of Marie and Ernie, as well as to the team at Season's Hospice and Palliative Care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 9, at 10:00 am, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 785 Highland Ave., Waterbury, with burial to immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery, 2324 E. Main St., Waterbury. Friends are asked to meet directly at Church.

She was a petite woman with a beautiful smile to see
who was very loving and thoughtful as anyone could be

Being petite she had trouble finding  clothes
but she could sew anything from her head to toes

She made the best cream puffs and birthday cakes
making any day a special occasion just to bake

Her family was important to her and she had much love
now we have our angel who will be watching us from above

You are in peace now and without pain anymore
for God's loving arms have healed you forevermore
