When I think of Aunt Marie I remember her as such a sweet person. She was special to me as I chose her to be my sponsor for my Confirmation. I still have my birthstone jewelry she gave me on that day.
I remember her as a wonderful caregiver along with her sister for their mother for many years. I remember fondly going to visit Grandma with our family and her being there, always making us feel so welcome and so happy for the visit. Visiting upstairs in her house, she always had it tastefully decorated. I especially liked going into her living room during the holidays and seeing her beautiful tabletop tree and her family pictures and little figurines in the back of the room. I can still picture her in later years upstairs on her back porch opening her window to greet Bernie and I and the kids when we pulled our van in the driveway to visit my parents. She had a way of always making us feel her love.
Other fond memories are watching the Miss America Pageant with her and us girls up in her house, seeing her cooking downstairs in the basement, and of course her baking cookies, cream puffs and that beautiful and delicious chiffon cake.
We will all miss her. May she Rest in Peace.
Love Karen and Bernie
