Dear Mrs. Andro,
I've heard Ray's name so many times over the years in the context of camp. If I think hard enough, I think I may have met him once or twice. But I'm not positive. Camp friendships last lifetimes as many of the condolences extended to you here, affirm. Please accept my own condolences as you walk your own journey. My sympathies.

It was really sad to see that Ray had lost the battle. He fought like hell to beat it but few ever succeed, I met him for the first time at camp mattatuck in 1959. The following year I was a CIT under his tutelage. We have been friends ever since. We always saw each other at the Palladino holidays. I was so happy to have a chance to see him here in florida last February. It was always a pleasure to talk with him.He was such a class act and will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know him

Remembering Ray was a high point in our life. I remembered the day we started camping. Ray was cleaning the bathrooms. We came in an old beat up pickup Ray came out of the bathrooms and looked at us and said you look like the Beverly Hillbillies! That’s when our memories began!
We really had some great times at the camp

As Ray's next door neighbor in Florida, I got to know him briefly during the time he spent here enjoying his new home in Vero Beach. Ray was pleasant, smart, and a great neighbor. We were saddened to learn of his passing. Our condolences go out to Brenda and the entire Andro family.

Will miss our dear friend Ray. We have become so much closer these past few years. Ray built a house in Vero Beach after helping us in our move here. We had great times and great meals out and about , at Rays house and at our house. You are family to us and always will be. Our hearts are heavy but our lives were so much luckier to have shared these times. Brenda we love you so and you have a warm loving supporting family. My deepest sympathy to all of you. Rest well my dear friend.

My name is James M. Trainor. I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family of Raymond Andro. I will remember him and you in my prayers. I am 72 years old. Mr. Andro was my scout leader when I joined Troop 39, St Francis Church scout troop when I was 11years old. Mr. Andro later became my Scoutmaster. Funny when your 11 an adult that is only 8 years older that you seems so much older than you are. All those years ago he was Mr. Andro to me, but now I think I can call him Ray. Age has it's advantages! Ray was a great leader and insperation to all us boys. Camping trips and cabin trips to Camp Mattatuck were alway fun and reinforced our camping skills. Summer camp at CampMattatuck was always the best.
It was a couple of years ago that I stopped in to see Tom Headman at his shop to get parts for my son's RV. It was then that we were talking and Tom asked me if I remenbered Ray Andro, of course I did. That's when Tom told me Ray was the owner of Hemlock RV. Wish I knew that years ago. Well I stopped into Hemlock to see if I could run into Ray just to say hello. I met his granddaughter and she told me Ray was in Florida. I introduced myself and asked her to tell Ray that one of his former scouts was in to say hello. In closing, Ray was a great guy I will never forget him for the wonderfull scouting experiences we had.
I am sure Ray was loved and will be missed by his family. I will miss him for the influence he had on me to make me the man I am today.
God Bless You Ray. Rest In Pease.

I posted a condolence message for Ray mistakenly. By that I mean the person I remembered was his brother Al, and not Ray. But if Ray was anything like I remember Al to be, he was a good guy. Sorry for the confusion.....🙏.

I grew up in the Hopeville/Washington Hill area and remember Ray very well. As teenagers, though at different times, we both worked for Tony and Laura Dipietro on their Holly Street chicken/egg farm. Ray would pick me up when I was hitch-hiking on Baldwin Street at the junction of Madison St. where I lived. What I remember best was that he always took me where I was going, and didn’t just drop me off someplace that was convenient to him. Ray was friendly and considerate.....never forgot him....and that was over 60 years ago. RIP Ray! Ya’ done good!!
