Sandra S. (Squinobal) Mooney

Sandra S. Mooney, 71, of Parish, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2023.

Sandra was born in Bridgeport, CT, on June 30, 1952, the daughter of Stanley and Jeannette (Curtis) Squinobal.

She was a long-time resident of Woodbury, CT, where she grew up, attended school, and raised her three children. Sandra worked at the Olive Tree for over 20 years, and it was there that she met Jim.

Jim and Sandy met in the early 1990's and continued to live in Woodbury, but they yearned for the warmer weather, and decided to venture to Florida. Once there, they quickly became hooked, and ultimately decided to retire there and live full-time.

Sandra became involved with The Elks Club, and over the years, worked her way up to hold the title of ER and PER (Exalted Ruler, Past Exalted Ruler) of Palmetto Elks Lodge 2449, and she rose to a state level position in Florida. She also represented the Elks Organization on a national level. During the 20 year span of her involvement with the Elks, she ran annual toy drives for children, backpack giveaways during the school year, sent many young people to camp on scholarships, and performed many other services for the community. Her community involvement, along with her participation with the Elks, were very dear to her, as well as the other hobbies she enjoyed, such as cooking, sewing, gardening, photography, and travel.

She will be missed greatly amongst her family and friends.

Sandra is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Parkhurst) Lleshi (Remi), and her granddaughter, Eriana Lleshi, her son, Nathan Peck, Sr., and grandchildren; Nathan Peck, Jr. (Maggie), Lucas Peck, Shane Peck, and Scarlett Peck, and her daughter,  Abigail Peck, and grandson, James Puorro, and her brother, Barry Squinobal, as well as many nephews and her niece, and friends. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Patricia (Mooney) Pozvek (Gary) and her children and grandchildren, Katie (Pozvek) Hayward (Kenny), Adam Hayward, and Jesse James Pozvek, her stepson, James P. Mooney, Jr. (Tiffanie) and his children and grandchildren, Dr. Daniel Mooney (Renee), Aubrey Mooney, Grace Mooney, Lucas Mooney,  Erin (Mooney) Slavick (Corey), Trey Slavick, Joseph Slavick, and David Mooney (Corrine), her stepdaughter, Nancy (Mooney) Krug (Carl) and her children, Michael Krug (Terryel), and Zachary Krug, her stepson, Michael Mooney (Claire), and his children, Liam Mooney, and Cerys Mooney, and her stepdaughter, Linda (Mooney) Norrie (Art) and her children and grandchildren, Amy Sulzman (Mark Lagares), Ripley Lagares, Christa Albright (Troy), Aviana Albright, Ace James Albright, and Jake Norrie.

She is predeceased by her parents Stanley and Jeannette Squinobal, and her husband James P. Mooney, Sr.

Services will be held at Munson and Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School St., Woodbury,  on Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 5:00 pm, to 7:00 pm. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
