Sarah L. (Fratoddi) Santaguida

WATERBURY- Sarah Santaguida 88, passed away peacefully Jan. 3, 2017, after a brief illness, at Saint Mary’s Hospital with her family by her side.  Sarah was predeceased by her husband Frank Santaguida.

Sarah was born in Waterbury on March 26, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Angelo and Caroline Fratoddi.  She leaves behind her beloved children, Frank Santaguida and his wife Elizabeth, Donna Vignali and her husband Bernard, Carol Santaguida and her husband Henry and Grace Santaguida. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren, Michelle Gilbert and her husband Daniel, Jennifer Santaguida, Alicia Vignali and her husband Orlando, Mark Vignali and her 3 great grandchildren who were truly the joy of her life. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by her brothers Louis and Dan Fratoddi.  She also leaves her two sisters-in-law, Mary Grosso and Josephine Carusello.

Politics was Sarah’s passion. She followed every political campaign, whether on a local, state or national level.  She was very fortunate to have traveled extensively and enjoyed reminiscing with family and friends about her trips.  Sarah spent many winters at her home in Lake Worth Florida and later enjoyed time with her family in Narragansett Rhode Island.  She also loved trying her luck at the casino.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lady of Lourdes Church, 306 South Main Street Waterbury or to the charity of choice.

The funeral will be held, Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 9:00 from Colasanto Funeral Home, 932 Bank St., Waterbury, to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 309 South Main Street, Waterbury, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Burial will follow, to Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6pm to 8pm Friday, January 6, 2017 at the funeral home.
